Necro/Rit Rit/Necro... ARGH!
For a MM I can find no better option that a Rit/Necro. However, I loathe the Ritualist movement and armor. Necro's look great and their armor is also gorgeous.
Therein lies my dilema. I have a concept 'all undead, all the time' character to create but that screams MM. Animate corpses, entrap spirits, it's all happy.
Can anyone with more knowledge than I, (that's pretty much all of you), break down minions with Spawning Power and without
Aside from that 4% per rank, are there other advantages for going Rit/Nec? What about advantages for Nec/Rit?
Thanks

Benefits for Rit/N:
Spawning - 4% increased health in all summoned minions (Spirits and Undead Flesh/Bone creatures).
Spawning - with Boon of Creation - gains health and energy on each minion/spirit summoned.
Spawning - with Signet of Creation - all minions and spirits gain +x health regeneration, but are destroyed in 30 seconds
Spawning - Ritual Lord (elite) - faster recharge on ritual binding spells (less wait time to cast more spirits)
Benefits for N/Rit:
Soul Reaping - increase energy regained upon death of anything (ally, minion, spirit, enemy, neutral NPC, etc.)
Death Magic - minions controlled = 2 + Level in DM/2 (means at level 16, you can control 2+16/2 = 10 minions)
Death Magic - increases damage, I think armor, and health of each minion (but not spirit)
Death Magic - more healing from Blood of the Master and Verata's Sacrifice (Prophecies only)
So basically, if you want to be loved by the undead, become N/Rit because you can have them more durable and more minions controlled.
Ritualists gain energy from each minion/spirit summoned. Necromancers get their energy from each death around them.
Good luck, and have fun.

Interesting. Speaks to my inner love of the Necro look for sure.
Anyone else?

Ritualists aren't really good for minion mastering, they are more for minion bombing. Their minions won't do as much damage or have as much armor, but they can have higher health and have a skill to do damage when summoned. They don't keep them alive as well as a primary necromancer.
Also Necromancers soul reaping will be better in the long run because you don't have to keep recasting the enchantment to get energy, and if you replace a minion when you reach the limit you'll get the energy from it's death.

Excellent. Thus far I'm hearing "Go Necro" which is what I was hoping for.
Thanks gurus.

There is bascally only one the ritualist is really good at. And that is spirit spamming. Boon of creation and ritual lord are perfectly tailored towards this but won't be powerful enough to control a horde of minions.
The energy gain from Boon is nowhere near enough to make up for the higher cost Minion Spells (most Binding Rituals only cose 5-15 energy opposed to 15-25 energy for minons). Which means if you were going Rit/Ne you'd be running dry real fast. Your minions would be weak. As there level is lower they take even more damage from enemies while dealing less damage themselves. I wouldn't be surprised to see them getting onehitted by every other Jade Brotherhood Mage.
So yes, go Necro/Rit but keep also in mind that you won't be able to spam Spirits this way (since Soul Twisting was somewhat nerfed).

Very well put. To the OP - it's simply a question of:
1. Do you want to keep and maintain a very resilient army of minions? OR'
2. Do you want your minions to do as much damage as possible?
If the answer is #1, then Necro/Ritualist is the way to go.
If the answer is #2, then Ritualist/Necro is the way to go.
At Pick Me - get rid of Ritual Lord and substitute Explosive Growth. That's the true use of the minion bomber, since Ritual Lord really doesn't help a minion master/bomber.
The ritualist combo, by the way, is Boon of Creation --> Explosive Growth --> Death Nova. Causes damage both when minions are CREATED and when they DIE.

Jetdoc,
Please remember the primary reason for this thread. He loves undead, he wants to be surrounded by "past loved ones". Summoning them up in order to kill them off is not "showing your love".
I only mentioned Ritual Lord because of the spirits. Spirits can die quickly if you are not careful, so RL will allow you to recast them quicker.
But we all agree, N/Rit is better for a long relationship with your minions & spirits.

Both methods have merit and I can work either angle. But as I despise the look of the ritualist, I'm glad to hear N/Rit isn't as cracked as I thought

I have a ritualist necromancer build. I keep restoration magic using recuperation and life, comboed with feast of souls and i dont seem to have a problem with keeping my minions alive and at full health. Also, since im a ritualist first and cast a few spirits, whenever im near an allied necromancer, im a secondary target since i don't really seem to be doing much but heal stuff and the necromancer gets mobbed instead.

Alright I've played both, I'll give my opinion aswell.
Necro primary = big army of minions, macro management, high physical damage output you rely on the minions to do damage and the challenge is keeping your minions alive with your skills and managing your energy.
Ritualist primairy = relatively small army of minions, the ones that you do have are used to suicide, AOE spell damage is what kills, not the minion damage. The challenge is micro managing your minions (putting death nova on them, taste of death on those that you want dead) and making sure you got the correct enchantments running (low duration on them).
A ritualist minion master is more a Elementalist AOE nuker with some tanks walking around then anything else.
